Members check up
on Pepeekeo repeater

On Sunday, March 8, four club members went to the Pepeekeo repeater on an inspection trip. The engineer from Pacific Broadcast had called to inform us that the lock on the container was cut off and someone may have entered.  The engineer said there was no apparent damage or anything missing but suggested we make a visit to verify.  Paul Agamata, WH6FM; Paul Ducasse, WH7BR; Bill Hanson, and Bob Schneider, AH6J, made the trip.  The accompanying picture shows Paul Agamata standing in front of the repeater after determining everything was okay. Due to the presence of military chaff recently, it was decided to tighten the squelch to compensate.  We will make another trip soon to clean up the grass and brush.  If you would like to volunteer, we can use your help.At the last meeting on March 14, it was voted on to purchase four new repeaters.  We will be needing help in installing them too.  Be forewarned that some of the repeaters are remote.  Contact Bill Hanson if interested. (Bill Hanson: whanson@co.hawaii.hi.us N0CAN).

Aloha:
Ten-Ten International's next QSO Party is the Digital QSO Party the last full weekend of April, this year on April 25-26. Be sure to get your log sent off by May 11.
All digital modes may be used, but be sure to stay within the digital portion of 10 meters.
Check www.ten-ten.org or www.10-10.org for additional information. Prepare also for the May 2-3 Spring CW QSO Party. Remember: You don't have to be a big gun to contest!
Irene, NH7PE, recently received an ARRL Certificate for the 2014 ARRL DX Contest for First Place, Hawaii, Single Operator, 10 Meters Only, Phone. She would like to point out that every Technician Class Licensee has privileges on 10 meters. You, too, could join in this fun contest, just as you can participate in the CQ World Wide WPX Contest each year (This year's was on March 28-29).
It is still very lonely on the HF ARES Net, Tuesdays at 7 p.m., LSB, 7.088 MHz, or 3.993.5 MHz. At 8 p.m. there are alternate weeks of VHF and UHF digital nets, with operators talking before sharing digital info. Sounds as if there are more of you participating in those nets. Great!
As almost always, the Aloha Chapter of 10-10 International Net meets at 6:30 p.m. HST Mondays (Tuesdays at 0430 UTC) on 28.490 MHz, alternate frequency 28.487 MHz. If you STILL don't hear me, call CQ! We had 7 check-ins from western Australia, and Perth, plus New Zealand a few weeks ago. Ten Meters -- Amateur Radio -- Great Fun!
